How does Adobe Reader maximize the viewing area for my books?
1. Is the Adobe Reader program
difficult to operate?
Adobe Reader is one of the most widely
distributed (free) and used computer programs world-wide. It comes with an
excellent Help program. Our free Demo-Tutorial is also of great assistance in
operating our Deluxe Electronic Books in the Adobe Reader
platform.
2. What is the best version of Adobe
Reader to use with these Deluxe Electronic Books?
3. Will these Deluxe Electronic
Books operate on the Mac and Linux operating systems as well as on the Windows
platform?
Yes, these books are PDF files and they
operate on all systems that can operate Adobe Reader and PDF files. One of the
principle benefits of PDF (Portable Document Format)
files is there universal function across all platforms. SEE Readme\ Mac
OS.
4. Why are the file sizes of your electronic books so large?
The vast majority of electronic books (eBooks) are merely plain
text without any formatting. They are also, generally, without illustrations,
and those present are generally of minimal quality (72 dpi).
Our Deluxe Electronic Books are typografically formatted to the
appearance of a regular book. The illustrations are of higher
quality—generally 150dpi. This enables them to be enlarged on the screen and
they still retain their clarity. This also provides better results if printed.
It is the number and quality of our illustrations that mostly enlarge the size
of our files.
5. Are these Deluxe
Electronic Books primarily for the visually impaired?
Certainly the Magnification (up to
6,400X) and the Improved Read-Out-Loud features are indeed a great benefit to
the visually impaired. However, these features, along with all of the other
fine features, make these books also of great attraction and usefulness to all
individuals. See Deluxe Features.
7. Why does my
Read-Out-Loud program sometimes read the wrong chapter?
Some of the improved
Read-Out-Loud chapter pages, especially of the Bible, are laid out on smaller
than standard size. This is to diminish file size. If your Adobe Reader is set
to display (in the right lower margin) to "Continuous" or
"Facing" pages more than one of the smaller pages will partially or
fully be visible. In this case, the program may read a chapter page other than
the one you had selected. Selecting "Single" page viewing will prevent
this.
8.When I open the
Demo-Tutorial program my browser warns me that the file may harm my computer. Is
there any danger?
The Demo-Tutorial
program is what is called a "flash" file. This is what makes it an
interactive program—responsive in its operation to your choices.
Unfortunately, some flash file programs are designed specifically for gathering
and sending out information from your computer, ie. spyware. Our
Demo-Tutorial has no ability to gather or to send any information from your
computer, and it should not cause any harm.
9. I have CD
versions of your electronic books. Do I need to install them on my hard drive?
The CD versions of our
electronic books will operate in part on their respective CDs. You can open
them, use all of their internal electronic links. You may or may not be able to
use the read-out-loud feature. You definitely will not be able to mark where you
stop reading, nor can you save any high lighting, underlining, personal comments
or attach any new materials.
10.What new products are planned?
As time allows, we
will be coming out with Enhanced versions of our more important books. This
will include electronic links to the electronic Bible for the large scripture
references and popups of the shorter references. Many will also include
selected Bible Commentary notes on specific scripture references. This will
make the books more in depth on each presented subject and definitely more
convenient, profitable, and enjoyable. As time allows, publications by
selected authors will also be added. Bookmark this site in your browser for
ease in frequent check backs.
11.I am having
trouble downloading. What can I do?
There are several
possible reasons for having difficulty in downloading files of this size:
a. Be sure you are
using a broadband connection to the internet: If You do not have
broadband, request the services of someone who does.
b. Adjust Firewall
or Anti-Virus settings: You may need to adjust or temporarily disable
Firewall or Anti-Virus software settings on your computer.
c. Enable Downloads
from vsdigitalinspiration.com: You may need to add
vsdigitalinspiration.com to your browser list of trusted sites or allow
downloads from vsdigitalinspiration.com if your browser displays a security
warning.
d. Enable Download
Notifications: In certain cases, your browser's security setting may be
preventing file downloads without displaying any notification. If this occurs,
your download will fail, but your browser will not let you know why it has
blocked the action. Check your browser's security settings to make sure that
notifications are enabled so you know if your browser is blocking downloads.
12.How
does Adobe Reader Maximize the viewing area?
There
are two small icons in the left lower corner of Adobe Reader that can enlarge
the viewing area for the book's pages. The farthest to the right is a square box
with a minus sign (-) in it. A click on it hides most of the tools, enlarging
the viewing area of your screen. Another click on the box (now with a plus sign
(+)) returns to the normal view. The farthest icon to the left depicts a
computer screen. A click on it enlarges the book pages to fill the entire
screen. As in all views, you can navigate with the "Page Up,"
"Page Down," "Home," and "End" buttons. Also, a
Left Click anywhere on the screen will now advance one page, and a Right Click
will return one page. The Escape button will return the view to normal.
