Welcome to Digital Inspiration’s Deluxe Electronic Books. You are now ready to experience the many advantages of these electronic books as based on the world renowned software of Adobe Reader:

General Instructions:

System Requirements:

Windows Platform: ¨ Adobe Reader 7.0 up to 7.0.9, or later (see below) ¨ PentiumÒ processor
¨ Windows 2000 (service pack 2), or later editions of Windows (Windows 95, 98, & ME with Adobe Readers 4.0, 5.0, or 6.0 provide fewer features of these electronic books)  ¨ 128 MB of Ram  ¨ Hard Drive space (Adobe Reader 20 MB; Electronic Book 40 MB average; Bible 25 MB; Demo_Tutorial 37 MB; Sampler Book 9.5 MB average)

Mac OS and UNIX Platforms: Download free from Adobe.com the latest version of Adobe Reader for your specific operation system. Go to the same web page address listed under Adobe Reader below.

How to Proceed:

Digital Inspiration Folder: Make a folder on your computer at the location of your choice and name it “Digital Inspiration.” Then open the Zip and regular folders from Digital Inspiration and copy all of the loose files into this new folder (no subfolders). If you now have, or later obtain, another of our publications also copy all of its files, unless informed otherwise, into this same folder. Once you have Adobe Reader installed, a double click on any of these files will open it in its appropriate program.

Adobe Reader: These electronic books have been created in version 7.0 of Adobe Acrobat and they operate most completely with its companion Reader 7.0 up to 7.0.9. Later or earlier versions of Adobe Reader will not operate all (or as smoothly) the features of these books. You may download free the version 7.0.9 from Adobe.com. To locate it the quickest, either click on the following  web page address or type it into the address window of your Internet browser and click go/search:
www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html. Follow the instructions. At step 2 select version 7.

Note: Adobe Reader versions 8 and 9 will operate well all of the features of these electronic books except for the “Improved Read-Out-Loud” portion (See below).

Demo_Tutorial: In order to enjoy the full benefits from these electronic books download the free interactive Demo_Tutorial file. It will demonstrate the principle features of the books and how to operate them. A double click on this file will open it in your Internet Browser where you can go through it as many times as, and whenever, you desire.

Assistance: For guidance in navigation or in utilizing any of the Adobe Reader features, the “Help” button at the top of the program is very beneficial. If you have any problems or comments regarding the book itself, contact us at our e-mail address deluxeelectronicbooks@vsdigitalinspiration.com.

KJV Bible: You will also want to download the FREE KJV Bible. Place all of its files in the same Digital Inspiration folder. It has the same basic features as the regular Digital Inspiration books and can be used as a stand alone Bible. Its Improved Read-Out-Loud feature accounts for the many accompanying  files. One can listen to an individual chapter or to its entire book.

Search Feature: The companion Bible will be of special benefit when reading one of the regular electronic books if you select “all PDF documents” in the Digital Inspiration folder when doing word or phrase searches. This allows you to cross search all of your Digital Inspiration electronic books at the same time. Note: If you place the Bible and its files in a subfolder of the Digital Inspiration folder, you can then select only it to be cross searched along with the book you are reading at the time.

Improved Read-Out-Loud Feature: Many of the files included with each of the Conflict of the Ages volumes and the Companion Bible are special reader files. These allow you to listen to your computer read each chapter. These chapter files have had all of the pictures with their attached titles and comments removed, along with the headers, footers, and page numbers. These items prevent a smooth audio experience. Although their text is, many times, very small, the electronic reader can read these files much more normally than the regular book.

To Activate: In your regular book, or in the companion FREE KJV Bible, place the “Select” or “Hand” Tool up to any chapter title (even if part of a graphic) or Bible book title and the hand’s index finger will extend. Left click on the title and the associated reader file will open up. It contains four labeled buttons. Click on the “Play” button and the “Out-Loud-Reader” will begin reading. This is actually a default voice of a text-to-speech program of your computer’s operating system. In your control panel you can usually adjust the speed (slightly slower may give the best pronunciation) and sometimes the tone. Your computer also can adjust the volume. Use the other buttons—“Pause,” “Resume,” “Stop”—as desired. As it reads you may enlarge the page size in order for you to follow it along if you so desire. It will turn its own pages as needed. If you click to activate any other file (such as the main book) the Reader ceases. If for any reason the labeled buttons do not operate, you can activate and control the Out-Loud-Reader feature through the dropdown menu “View” / “Out-Loud-Reader.”

Comments:  Whenever you underline or highlight text, or you make a personal popup note be sure to save the book file on closing in order that your comments are not lost.

Bookmarks:  This term refers in Adobe language to a left margin tab in Adobe Reader that opens up to give access to all of the electronic links within each book. Here you find quick links to book sections, chapters, illustrations, original pagination, etc. These bookmarks are in a telescoping format. A plus sign (+) at the left of a title indicates that there are additional hidden titles. A left click on the plus sign turns it into a negative sign (-) and opens the full list of titles. A click on a negative sign hides the titles.

Personal Bookmark: This refers to a marker that the individual places to indicate where to begin reading the next time. With your Note tool, place a Note (Comment) on the page you desire to return to. Type “Bookmark” (or any easy to remember word or phrase) on it. Save your file when you close the book. When you desire to return, click on “Edit,” then “Search.” In the Search window, type in “Bookmark” (or whatever word or phrase you used), check “Include comments,” then click “Search.” This opens the publication to your marked page.  If desired, delete this old bookmark and create a new one where you next stop reading. The Demo_Tutorial program shows the whole process.

Samplers: Free download Sampler files of all of Digital Inspiration’s Electronic Books are available from the source of your present book or books. These consist of portions of the featured book. Feel free to open them up and explore their fine features. Titles in the bookmarks and Table of Contents that are light gray in color indicate full version portions that are not included in the Sampler versions. You may share these sampler versions freely.

Purchaser’s Rights: The text and illustrations in Digital Inspiration’s Electronic books are public domain. Digital Inspiration’s copyright mark applies to the combination of the two on the Adobe Acrobat platform. The user of these electronic books may copy off and use the text and illustrations as they desire. They may also print off portions, or the entire book, for personal use. Their combination as distributed by Digital Inspiration for the Adobe Reader program may be installed on as many computers as the immediate household’s dependant members possess. You may make one disc copy for backup purposes. It is requested that copies not be made to sell nor to give away.

God Bless,
